Welcome to my Lion King page!

A young lion cub named Simba just cant wait to be king. But the sudden death of his father, Mufasa, and the treacherous actions of his Uncle Scar lead Simba into exile and ultimately on a heros journey of self-discovery. Adopting the "hakuna matata" philosophy of his comical jungle guardians -- a warthog and a meerkat (Pumbaa and Timon) -- Simba eventually comes to terms with his destiny and returns home to Pride Rock to help put things right.

This is the story of The Lion King. The story continues in The Lion King II - Simbas Pride and The Lion King 1 1/2 - Hakuna Matata. And if you can\'t get enough of Simba, Scar, Nala, Pumbaa, Timon and the other animals from The Lion King you are at the right place! You can find here lots of colouring pictures, pictures, sounds and quotes from the different characters! You can also read an animated storybook and get more information about the characters.

Background information

The Lion King came to the theatres in 1994. It was the 32nd animated Disney feature. It is one of the most loved animated movie ever. The music and the songs were written by Tim Rice and Elton John. They even received an Academy Award for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". Did you know that this song was first meant to be a song between Timon and Pumbaa? You can imagine that Elton John and Tim Rice weren't to happy with this intention. In the musical, which was based on the movie, there are three extra songs made by Elton John and Tim Rice. One of the songs "Morning Report" also appears on the special edition DVD which was released in 2003.

The other two new songs in the musical are "Chow Down" and "The Madness of King Scar".

The Lion King has a great cast for the voices. Rowan Atkinson is the voice of Zazu. Whoopi Goldberg is the voice of Shenzi. Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella were to play the hyenas Banzai and Shenzi (played by Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin in the film), but the producers didn't like their audition for the roles and shifted them to Timon and Pumbaa. Did you know that James Earl Jones (King Mufasa) and Madge Sinclair (Queen Sarabi) play the King and Queen in Coming to America (1988)?
